*This recipe came to my mind when I saw snow outside!! I'm not ready for snow!! This isn't the traditional goulash you usually see. It's super simple and some people call is "tomato-mac" I grew up calling it goulash, so I'm sticking to it! :) It warms you to the bone on those chilly days and is super easy and cheap to make!
You'll Need:
-1/2 lb. hamburger=$free (sort of/not really, paid for a whole cow last year, using the last of it now-so I guess it could go under "pre-paid meat")
-1 small onion=$free from garden
-1 bottle of bottled tomato juice (or 2 cans of stewed tomatoes-whatever you like)= $free from garden
-1/2 box of elbow noodles=$.50 (bought box on sale for $1)
-Salt and Pepper to taste.
total=$.50 (still if you had to pay for meat and tomatoes, this meal is well under $5 for 4 servings)
DIRECTIONS:
-Cook hamburger in skillet with onion and seasoning salt. (I usually cook a full lb. of meat and then save 1/2 for the next nights meal-easy prep!)
-Cook noodles according to directions on box.
-Drain noodles, and combine with meat and tomato sauce.
-Season with salt and pepper.
*my hubby likes to melt cheese on the top. It's pretty good. I like to dunk a huge hunk of bread into it. but that's just me. :)
